Monday the 27th Practice

My blocking plans for practice on Monday the 27th are as follows. . . .

~Workhouse Children & Fagin's Boys will not be needed during this practice~

Act 1 Scene 3

Act 2 Scene 1 (this practice will be without Fagin's Boys - we will add them in at another practice)

Page 42 - 45 (Nancy bringing Oliver to Brownlow and ONLY leading up to the murder portion of the scene.)

I would like to introduce the added lines for Page 54. At the 1st practice (during the read through) I told you that they'd be coming!!! This means added lines for Eliah, Lydia, Karis, and Noah K. (As time allows, I want to to do a read through of the entire Act 2 Scene 3 with the characters involved.)

I am currently making decisions about the epilogue. More info. will be coming.

The actors/actresses not in the scenes above will be working character development, line memorization, accents, volume, tone of voice, hand gestures, etc. with Mrs. Weimer and Mr. Caleb.
As well as checking in with costumes, hair, make up, shoes, hats . . .

Our Crew Members are vital to H.I.S. Players!!!! Remember to thank them for all the work they do! Just like practicing acting when someone has to back up and try again, they are doing the same thing behind the scenes! Be patient and helpful as they (perhaps) try many different ideas to best fit your character!

“If you please, sir, I want some more!” Escape into the world of 1830s England as H.I.S. Players presents Charles Dickens’ well-loved classic, Oliver Twist. Young Oliver travels from the selfish Bumbles at the workhouse to the streets of London where he meets the infamous Fagin, the Artful Dodger, the menacing Bill Sikes and the sacrificial Nancy. When rescued by a wealthy gentleman named Brownlow and a compassionate young woman, Oliver feels safe until kidnapping, and a mysterious man drive him back to the thieving ring. Will evil and deceit bring ruin or will love and goodness reveal truth? This stage adaptation portrays the intriguing twists and turns with memorable characters and attention to historical detail.

Wooden Table (approx. 3 x 4 ft. rectangle)(tall enough to sit at) can be rough (for Fagin’s Den)

2 Small round tables (approx. 3 ft.) (tall enough to sit at) (patio tables? Round card table?)

2 wooden benches (each one to hold 3 small students)

Metal park bench

Settee - small sofa or bench that can be made into a padded seat (needs to hold two people)

Tea Cart (to use as a booksellers cart)

Edits to tomorrows schedule

Hi everyone,

Due to sickness and absences we will not be working with the WORKHOUSE CHILDREN.      Please do not have them attend.

-We will practice portions of  the scene working specifically with Bumble and Corney, the Sowerberrys and Charlotte and Noah.

There are the only edits I know of so far, as of 5:44 pm.

Families with sickness

There are quite a few strains of sickness going around at this time!

IF YOU ARE SICK OR HAVE COLD/FLU SYMPTOMS IN YOUR HOME, PLEASE CONSIDER WHETHER STUDENTS ARE HEALTHY ENOUGH TO ATTEND PRACTICE WITHOUT THE RISK OF SPREADING IT.

It is better to contact Director Jennie and miss this practice, than to attend not feeling well and get others sick. This eliminates the potential of spreading it, causing others to miss practice in the weeks ahead.

If a fever is or has been a symptom, be sure that it is gone and hasn't come back within 48 hours, AND are feeling much better.

BEFORE ATTENDING PRACTICE ON MONDAY BE SYMPTOM FREE FOR 48 HOURS!

Hi Everyone!

My plans for practice on Feb. 20th are as follows . . .

~Act 1 Scene 3 (follow up on last weeks practice)

(and small group /individual on volume, character, voice tones and accents) 

Yes, we do need the Workhouse Children & Fagin's Boys!

Check Reimbursement Info.

For those of you in a department or parent job that requires you to make purchases* for our show, we do have Reimbursement Request Forms available to you.

*An example of these purchases would be: bio board supplies, library display supplies, hair/costume items needed in general, bake sale paper products, etc.
(Please personally cover small stuff when possible.) 

Any Reimbursement Forms that total $35 or more, you must have a Director's signature before mailing the form. Thank you!

Please remember that students provide their own basic makeup, socks, and possibly the use of their own shoes, pants etc. or may need to make a second hand store purchase. (H.I.S. Player Handbook page 8)

 I found this 5 minute video about Workhouses. It mostly covers two jobs given to those in the Workhouse.
 

The second portion is about the picking oakum -pulling apart ropes (Zeke and Timmy will be doing this at the Workhouse.)
